Hillary Challenge

Today I went to replace the battery in my bathroom scales, only to find that the connection was broken.  That necessitated a trip into Timaru to Briscoes to buy a new set.  Imagine my delight when I got there to find that they had a sale on!

(Note to non-Kiwi's - this is sarcasm - Briscoes ALWAYS have a sale on.)

Then I went out to watch the Hillary Challenge.   Their 6 hour Adventure Races are open to all Secondary School Students throughout New Zealand and are a great intro to Adventure Racing.  The events are designed to attract students of all levels and you don't need a high level of skill and experience to join in and have an awesome time.

This afternoon I went out to Geraldine to watch our Opihi College team of students who were competing in the South Island competition.  As the action happens out on the course I didn't actually see any competing but I did get a chance to catch up with our students at the end.  They had all had a good time.

The group depicted here are not ours.  This is a team from another school (actually one in Christchurch).  I couldn't resist their 'huddle' as they checked and double checked their answers in the 5 minutes before the final submission.
