Ceanothus

Common names are apparently California lilac, wild lilac and soap bush. Ceanothus comes from a Greek word meaning 'spiny plant', although the one in our garden is not spiny. Ours has been quite late in flowering but is now a profusion of deep blue flowers and the bees are visiting in abundance.
