Aljezur then Carrpateira Beach

After the most wonderful breakfast sitting on the terrace of the dining room, we drove off the 15 minutes from Monte to Aljezur. Decided we would climb up to the castle on top of the hill in town, rather than be lazy and drive the car to the top. It was quite a steep climb but worth it as along the way you get a glimpse of how the people living here live. There was a lady hard at work in her garden, half was beautiful flowers and the other was veg. The views were fab too over to the other side of town. On the walk down from the castle, which had the most enourmous flag, we watched a cat having fun playing with a mini snake.

Refreshment in a Cafe next to the river and then a wander into their fish and veg market where we bought some honey and dried Oregano.

About half an hour further along the coast was the magnificent beach of Carrpateira. We walked to the headland, the waves were crashing to the shore making such a booming noise. Hardly anyone on the beach despite the hot weather. There aren't many tourists in this region, yet. Due to the absence of a nearby airport probably. We sat and listened to the sounds of the sea then wandered back across the hillside, lots of wildflowers out at the moment- uts beautiful.

Back to Monte for some chill time at the pool before getting ready to go out for a meal, this time we went to Aljezur to a traditional Portuguese restaurant called Pont da Prince for some fish and pork. Meal was delicious including the home made mango mousse. I can still taste it!
