Derelict Sunday......Boat Graveyard

Spent an enjoyable Bank holiday weekend with blipper Serpentine who took me on a tour of a boat graveyard in Sharpness.  Over a period of time until the 1950's, barges were deliberately rammed into the embankment at high tide and left to silt up, which has gradually raised the level of the river bank and prevented erosion from the fast flowing current. Over forty barges of wood, steel and concrete lie in various stages of dereliction, quite a sight. ....thanks to Freespiral for hosting:)
