The end of the race

Appleby Harness Races. In all the years we have lived here, we have never actually seen this event, although we knew it went on.  We were only there briefly this afternoon, as we heard the noise and went to investigate. We arrived just as one of the last races was finishing and we only stayed a few minutes. I never imagined it attracted so many people.
 
   
Extra – gold sandals seemed to be the thing to wear.
