I spotted a house for sale on my travels today that had a self contained granny annexe on the side. I collected paperwork from the agents and then popped round to my son's with it offering a proposal of a financial reward if he relocate his family so that we could all bunk in together with me being in situ just on the other side of his internal wall. He was absolutely horrified!!
