The US is such a fascinating place that I crave a road trip through the Midwest, stopping at authentic diners en route. This wholly unhealthy but delicious diner where we went to grab dessert got us talking about driving through obscure states, sampling pecan pie along the way. I've previously joked with my friend Rosemary, who has recently moved back to Washington from Phnom Penh, that we should organise a post-election trip through Trump Coal Country. It would be highly educational and likely with stunning scenery.

It's never a bad use of time to fantasise about travel. And it's certainly never a bad use of time to devour a creamy peanut buttery pudding with ice cream. When the two come together, it's a pretty sweet Bank Holiday Sunday.
