My Favorite Vet

Today is Memorial Day here in the states. A time to honor our veterans, fallen and living. Thankfully, by the Grace of God, this young man, our youngest, returned from Iraq with all of his fingers and toes. My heart goes to all families who have lost soldiers. Scripture tells us there is no greater sacrifice than to give your life for others.
Our state is said to be the birthplace of Memorial Day. Just after the Civil War, some women wanted to honor the fallen, both Union and Confederate, although this state was part of the Confederacy. The most likely birthplace of Memorial Day is the cemetery where my grandmother is buried.

Patriotism runs deep in our family.
