Early marsh orchid....
....and a little wasp!
I went on a quick trip to Ferring today to see the amazing display of marsh orchids that grow there. These Dactylorhiza spp orchids are very promiscuous and in consequence many of the plants growing in this location are hybrids between the Southern marsh orchid, Early marsh orchid and the common spotted orchid.
I am pretty certain this is an Early marsh orchid Dactylorhiza incanata very pretty with pale salmon pink flowers with lovely markings. I especially like this shot because of the tiny wasp crawling across the flower.
I have also added a shot of Fairy flax Linum catharticum, in my extras as it is so tiny and yet so beautiful.
Off to the Apple shop tomorrow as my lovely 12.9 inch ipad pro is refusing to turn on! especially peeved as I have just got an apple pencil to use with it from my lovely friends for my birthday...lets hope they can fix it - quickly!
