Damselfly- Demoiselle type, Kingcombe
We went for another wildflower and folklore walk for a few hours this morning. The hay meadows at Kingcombe - a centre belonging to Dorset Wildlife Trust are wonderful. This damselfly- what a wonderful name, demoiselle, Paul took with a high magnification lens by the River Hooke .There had just been a hatching.
Once again there were field of orchids and important meadow flowers such as yellow rattle. We learned about how the ecology of the land is balanced there without the use of any untoward things! It was heartening to see so many people joining the walk but mostly over the age of 55.
Quick dash to the hairdresser in Dorchester followed by a late lunch at our favourite cafe there - The Potter's Cafe. A few purchases may have been made in Seasalt ready for our holidays starting next week! :)
