Zoo-seum

We took the bus into town today and met cousins Albert and Edith for a trip to the museum. There was a special half term event where there was lots of animals for the children to hold and learn about. Alexander couldn't wait to hold the tarantula and Phoebe said she liked the bunny the best.

We followed the trail around the museum finding all the clues for our activity sheets. On the way learnt about prehistoric creatures, early man and also lots of local history including the napoleonic prisoner of war camp that was situated just outside of our village back in the 1700's! The museum itself used to be a Victorian hospital and the top floor had been kept as an operating theatre complete with instruments of (torture) medicine from the era.

After we had completed the trail and received our prizes we went to the cathedral grounds for a picnic. The kiddies let off some steam running around chasing each other before it was time to get back on the bus and come home. It's been a wonderful day and the kiddies were shattered by bedtime.
