First Day

Today was Girl's first day at school, she has waited a long time for this day. She was super excited and for the first time ever she did not have to be nagged for half an hour to get dressed. Within seconds of it being mentioned the uniform was on and she was ready to go downstairs.

After a quick breakfast she had her P.E. bag on her back and her book bag in her hand and was ready to go, pity there was still was two hours to go until we needed to leave. So after the rest of us were up and eaten we set about taking the obligatory first day of school front door pictures.

Girl informed her brother that she was going to enjoy school but was going to miss playing with him. I feel he will miss her very much too.

We then all walked her in. On the way we bumped into some friends of Girls and the excitement went through the roof. All the new school children and the parents then filled the playground before filtering into the classrooms to deposit bags and find hooks.

Girl spotted some colouring and was quickly at a desk with the pencils colouring in snow whites dress. The rest of the children seemed to be more interested in the toys available. The parents were the filtered out. As I said goodbye to Girl I worried about her sitting alone, and as she said goodbye to me she didn't seem at all bothered.

Once back home after our respective busy days I asked Girl how her first day went. She just said good and that she enjoyed it. When I asked what she did I did not get any answer. I think this is a standard answer along with the reply of "nothing".

Most of Girl's friends do not start at her school until next week as they are a little younger, and the ones taht are there have other friends there already. We are not worried as we know she will make friends quickly. So at playtime I think she spent time on her own happily taking it all in. She told me how a teacher suggested she play with another girl who did not know many people. Apparently they both went very shy with Girl eventually finding a way out by claiming she was off to play with a boy she knew, even though as she told me tonight "she wasn't really"

The main thing is that she is looking forward to going back tomorrow.
