Help is at hand?

My poor garden is suffering! We are having an tiny conservatory (a glass porch really) outside the back door but the work involves moving a small retaining wall and that seems to involve demolishing a surprising amount of garden. Perhaps this book will give me some ideas....
(The windows are dusty because of the work - they don't usually look like this!)
