Baby birds..
Another busy one today. Left everyone else sorting the hill lambs and went to Stirling with a load of sheep. This was the first draw of fat lambs this year. It's a short life but they have had the best spell of weather since they were born 10 weeks or so ago.
Back home and back to spreading slurry. The 25 year old Case tractor on the mixer started making a loud puffing noise which I traced to one of the fuel injectors so will need to investigate the problem when I get a chance.
Yesterday I heard a funny chirping noise on my tractor. Thought it sounded like a puncture fizzing away. Eventually discovered a wagtail nest full of 4 wee chicks under the cab on top of the transmission. They must have traveled a lot of miles since they hatched with the parents feeding them whenever the tractor parked up.
Managed to fish them and the nest out and put it in the bale stack next to where the tractor parks. The 2 parents weren't long in arriving with beaks full of grubs for them .
