Scroll down for Ragged Robin
This bench is not used nearly enough. The ragged robin is just full of bees at the moment; I sat watching and listening to them yesterday evening whilst listening to yet more hopefuls repeating the words,"This is BBC Radio 4. It's 5 o'clock. Time for PM, with Eddie Mair."
I did notice quite a few tree bees amongst the usual gathering of other bumbles. They seem to be causing quite a stir amongst the general (human) population of the country, certainly in our area, choosing to nest in nest boxes in and around houses. The general advice is to leave them, er, bee. Let them complete their cycle. Fortunately, they don't seem to be having any adverse effects on our local bee populations and they are helping to pollinate our flowers.
