I am the Walrus

Having ridden out the weather (it didn’t qualify as a storm!) we reached Svalbard early this morning - first stop was a walrus haul-out at Poolepynten.  

I’ve been to a few walrus haul-outs in the past and these were mostly pretty sedentary affairs with not much happening.  This haul-out had both quite a lot of jostling for position on the beach and a group of walrus in the water.  

We were able to just sit at the water's edge and wait for the walrus to come and investigate us - fantastic experience.
