Farewells
The Curate, Mark, left St Hilda's today to go on to his own Parish in a different part of Birmingham. We all sent him on his way with lots of good wishes. The choir wanted to have their photo taken with him and as I had the camera with me, guess who got the job! We had a very staid and boring shot first and them I suggested to the choir that they could, just possibly, be a group of posers... The youngsters found it easier than the older members! That's my Dad back right.
On a rather more solemn note, the oldest and longest serving member of St Hilda's, a long time member of the choir even after he fell off the Matterhorn in 1972 and was lucky to survive, Len York, died early this morning in the care home where he has spent the last two years since his wife died. He was ninety years old. RIP Len. May your ascent up the mountain be a good one... A good day to go on Pentecost Sunday.
