Waiting

A recent concert in the Dunoon Burgh Hall was sponsored by Holy Trinity Church. Normally such concerts - this one was by the singing group 8+1 - would happen in the church, which has an excellent acoustic but no loos. Changes to the rules regarding entertainment licences mean that we have to have a loo, so the gig was moved to this promising - and very convenient - venue. Only trouble is the lighting - there is none on the stage - so we had to import the stand-lamps put together for our Christmas performance in church.

The lights in the auditorium were put out while we sang, with the result that the conductor, who was wearing black, vanished against the blackness of the hall. It was a good gig, nevertheless - and we raised a good sum to put to, inter alia, loo creation!
