Station Master's House

We stopped for a little picnic today at a very small almost ghost town in the South Australian Mallee District. Like most of these towns they were thriving hubs when the main road went through and the railway was busy.

This poor little cottage was the station master's house.  The last station master died there in 1990, at the age of 78.  Appallingly his body lay in the cottage for a week before it was discovered.

I know this isn't right for today's theme, but I couldn't resist making this a mono image.  More ghostly that way.
