Blickling Rain

It started raining at eleven thirty this morning, it's due to continue till 6am tomorrow with winds up to 49mph. Aware of this forecast we decided to do a National Trust property on the grounds there is plenty of indoor space of house and cafes. Prior to the rain we went to Holt for a look round and a cup,of tea in the Apollo Cafe, very civilised with tea strainer and egg timer to show when ready to drink. Holt is an interesting village with some old buildings and independent shops including an Adnams Southwold beer outlet.

Once it started raining we set off for Blickling Estate, a National Trust Jacobean property set in 4500 acres of grounds (we gave the garden a miss owing too inclement weather conditions). After a curry lunch in their cafe we went round the house, very grand and opulent with one of the most historically significant library in England. The current house built in1616 stands on the site of Thomas Boleyn's house, and is said to be still haunted by the headless Anne. See wikithing.

We got soaked walking back to the reception at the entrance where we had a hot chocolate before dashing to the car park for the drive home.
