Worlds Largest Union Flag

A trip across the Solent today to Southampton to visit my favorite camera store. This view taken from the top deck of the ferry shows the hanger doors to what was once the British Hovercraft Corporation (a successor to Saunders Roe)

To celebrate the Queens Silver Jubilee in 1977 the doors were painted with world's largest image of the Union Flag. For the Jubilee this year the flag was re-painted by groups of volunteers and charity organisations to bring it back to it's former glory.

Berthed in Southampton was the Queen Mary 2 a picture of which I have placed in my Blipfolio in Nearly Blipped. (still struggling to to a 'here' link.)
