The Last Plantagenet
Richard of York, killed at the battle of Bosworth.
Underneath a few feet of rubble and tarmac in a council car-park human remains have been unearthed. Everything so far points to them being that of Richard III of York.
Mr. Michael Ibsen, a cabinet maker, born in Canada and now living in
London is one of the last known descendants of Richard and he has provided a DNA sample which will be used to match that of the remains of his probable ancestor. His lineage has been traced back to Richards elder sister Anne.
If the skeleton does turn out to be that of King Richard then it`s likely that he will be laid to rest in Leicester Cathedral.
The dig is going to be opened to the public over the next two weekends and objects from the excavation will be on display in the Guildhall, Guildhall Lane.
