Jubes
This is my fifth time in Juba and each visit it feels less tense out on the streets. This is more likely related to my own greater familiarity rather than any real sense of political and economic stability in the country or city.
People in South Sudan would kill for the chance to vote in free and fair elections, void of violence and where the result will be democratically accepted. Although it's tempting to want to throw the Daily Express editorial team off the White Cliffs of Dover for their blatant smearing, a difference between the UK and South Sudan is that we're able to cast a vote without intimidation and ethnic rivalries play a much smaller part in political dialogue (although I wouldn't say that UK election campaigns are devoid of controversial statements designed to denigrate an entire group...)
