Circumstance and Pomp

Another theory disproved: I tell people that, wherever you are in the world, if you want to watch an important UK sporting event, go to an Irish bar. Keen to watch the British and Irish Lions v Canterbury today, I walked along busy roads for a couple of miles, through Zagreb, to a bar described on t'internet as open from 10 am.  It wasn't.

Back in the City Centre, rehydrating in a non-Irish establishment, drums sounded as a troop of soldiers marched down to take control. They were unperturbed by being surrounded by photographers. Zagreb being a very clean city, the parade was followed by a small tractor towing a wheelie bin and a large shovel.

Later in the day, it did not rain.
