Peeping
This is a temporary installation in Paternoster Square, made up of lots of pieces of plastic clipped together. We diverted there on a lovely walk from Liverpool Street to the Royal Academy via the Barbican ( lottery funded apartment dream! ), and St Paul's for me to be able to revisit one of my favourite London sculptures, the Angel's Wings by Thomas Heatherwick (of the 2012 Olympic cauldron , Routemaster bus and the shelved Garden Bridge fame) in Paternoster Square. Also got a chance to see the Fourth Plinth installation in Trafalgar Square which got a thumbs down from me.
We had a fun couple of hours at the RA Summer Exhibition Preview , saying "How MUCH????" at the cost of most of the art this year. Again the phrase Emperor's new clothes springs to mind. We then went for lunch in Soho before heading back to Liverpool Street via Smithfield and the Barbican again. I am lucky to have a companion who I have nicknamed Routemaster as he knows London on foot so well. London looking glorious and welcoming and feeling safe in the sun today.
All in all a lovely diversion from the stressful plate spinning I am trying to achieve at the moment with deadlines for reports, moderation and a week away in Wales on Year 6 residential next week! Arrrgggghhh....
