Dandelions and Nests

On one of our standard walks from home we go past this field which just now is resplendent with a rich crop of dandelions and wild pansies (See extra).
So where do the nests come in? Well, they are hiding somewhere in that grass.  Every time we walk along this track we are serenaded by the slightly aggressive cries of four lapwings as they fly back and forth a little way above us. Soon after they get going they are joined by two curlews who add a chorus of their own to the concert. I think the curlews are nesting slightly further away but once they hear the commotion they fly in help to drive away us, the dangerous intruders.
The slightly weird point is that if they kept quiet we would have no idea there were nests nearby!
