A little bit of history

A pleasant, casual wobble on our bikes around "The Flats" of the Cuyahoga River, right down-town Cleveland and we came across this little log cabin - the Lorenzo Carter home dating from 1797. At first I thought it was the original, but on Googling a little, I learned (with some disappointment) that this is only a replica, built in 1976. Nevertheless, interesting that Lorenzo Carter was one of the original settlers of the area, sticking with it despite the grim winters, floods and bugs from the swampy river while others gave up and left.
And the contrast of history and the modern scenario of bridges and motorways made an impression too.
