Day 4
My office is moving to the gyle. This has been the source of much consternation. A 10 minute walk turns into an hour bus ride on 24th September.
I decided to see the silver lining. My parents gave me one of their bikes and I've decided to cycle. Extra exercise and quicker than the bus. We will have showers at the new work too so that's a bonus.
I went on a reconnaissance mission today. Google maps said it was 6.6 miles, so I thought a 13 mile round trip would be a good start.
The journey out was quite nice, the legs grumbled a little to start with but they soon got the hang of it.
I got lost coming off the cycle path but found my way again soon enough. It took 45 mins to get there. I met my folks at the gyle and they bought me a hot chocolate. More importantly, they brought me my cycle helmet (that I thought I'd lost).
The cycle home was much quicker, I did it in 35 minutes and reached a top speed of 24 miles per hour (that's 2.25 minute miles).
My GPS tells me it was actually just over 15 miles, not 13 - so that's not bad for day 4 of the new fitness regime!
