Meet Dan Quail

We haven't seen our quail visitors very often lately and this is the first time they have appeared with their chick. They are more timid with him present so I couldn't get closer for a better shot. We have christened him Dan, although I am sure he is much smarter than his namesake.
We also have Kiwis visiting the garden. We hear them almost every night, screeching to each other, and often they seem right in the garden, usually outside our bedroom window. Last week I saw one in the garden for the first time so with a lot of luck I may get a shot sometime.
