We went to London today to see our granddaughter who is in The London Clinic. We saw her during the morning, had lunch in a restaurant with our daughter and then saw her again for a short while this afternoon.
As some of you may have seen on FaceBook, she has hip dysplasia, torn cartilage, snapping hip syndrome, twisted femur and tibia on both sides. This should have been picked up when she was born, but it was missed. The surgeon operated on her left side last Wednesday 7 June and they will operate on her right side next year. She is in The London Clinic as there is no one in Cambridge who can do the surgery she needed. She is doing brilliantly and coming home tomorrow (Tuesday 13) one day earlier than they expected. No weight bearing for twelve weeks, lots of hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. Today she was comparing her scars with her Granddad’s (my husband) knee replacement scar; she was pleased that her scar is longer than his!!!
