Chen (pronounced Chan)

We stopped for a coffee at Chen's on our evening wander and not for the first time did I enjoy hearing his banter with everyone who walked past or stopped to sit on his pavement terrace.  He moved easily from flirting with the flirtatious to family talk with the older señoras while shaking their husband's hands warmly to backslapping the young lads who stopped for a drink on their way home from work.  He finally sat down for a chat wit a very elderly neighbour and asked her if she was eating ok.  He seemed to know everyone's names and switched with ease from Spanish to Catalan. He can't quite get his tongue round my name but greets me with a a smile and an 'Hola guapa!' and shouts out Bb's name with confidence.  It was like watching a professional dancer who knew their steps very well enjoy a bit of playful improvisation.  Hats off to you Chan for integrating so well into this community and for providing such good service.
