Perhaps because of their love of the land, the French seem miles ahead, IMHO, of the British in terms of land and who owns what. All the land is split up into numbered parcelles and one can find out who owns what easily and a map of the parcelles themselves are available on-line, here superimposed on Googlemaps to make it easier to understand.
Perhaps difficult to see the numbers in this image but we own 60, 61, 121, 122, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 135, 136, 137, 138, 140, 141, 142, 154, 155,  160 & 163, I think. You can see why we spend a lot of time outside!
