Dame’s Violet
Yesterday SpotsOfTime identified a flower for me and linked to when she had seen the same by the Eden. And marpaul noted that they were the same as we had seen last week.
Dame’s-violet or Sweet Rocket or Hesperis matronalis
I have never heard of this and yet it obviously grows all along the edge of the river in Appleby and in Bitts Park and in other places.
It’s rather nice in either white of pink and has a lovely scent. Apparently it is one of those that has escaped the garden and become naturalised. I knew none of this. I’m learning . . .
