An old wall with a past

This old wall, looking pretty just now covered in campanula flowers, is a boundary wall between a modern residential house and garden and the "alley" - a useful short cut from one part of the village to another.
But this old wall was once protecting a much older and rather handsome house, which was sadly demolished in the 1920's.
