Dusting of Snow
We got a fresh dusting of snow on the mountains overnight, which all the skiers were happy to see. Apparently the Cardrona Ski field was closed due to high winds!! I went to watch the sun rise at Bremner Bay, once again it was a very pretty sunrise. It is a beautiful but cold winters day, nice to be walking in the sunshine. 11211 steps, which is 7.2 ks.
Blip No. 1933
New Zealand news 1933.
New Zealands first distinctive coins were issued by the NZ Treasury.
Like Britain we used Pounds, (£), shillings (s) and pence (d). The denominations used were 3d, 6d, 1s, 2s, (florin) and 2 1/2 s (half-crown). I found 2 half crowns in my coin box, but they were minted in 1950. (Extra 1). Apparently the 3d piece can be purchased today for $50, but must be dated 1933. The penny and halfpenny were minted in 1940.
The second extra is of my family at a family reunion in the early 1930's. I can spot my grandmother and 3 aunts, but not my parents.
