Not very promising......

..... but then the sun came out - unfortunately just as I had finished my walk and was heading back to the car.  The little girl and her Grandfather were well wrapped up and prepared for rain but the afternoon has been lovely after such a poor start.  I couldn't make up my mind whether or not I preferred the shot with the figures in or without, so I've put up both.

Jack's birthday is on Saturday and we were heading off for a quiet time together;  however as we're creatures of habit our eldest daughter knew exactly where we'd be for the big day and so she (Joanne), Deborah, Caroline, one son-in-law, one grandson and a couple of good friends will all join us for dinner on Saturday evening at our favourite roof top terrace in Rome.  With all this in mind we've quietly celebrated or perhaps it would be truer to say he's attempted to ignore it today.  He won't be able to do that on the day!
