Leevi heading to Lapland
Leevi and his friends Eemil and Waltteri hired a car and left to northern Lapland today. They'll head to Saariselkä, to Urho Kekkonen National Park, where they'll have a five days hike with a tent. It's 1000 km from Pirkkala to Saariselkä! Their original plan was to hike in Kevo, but because summer arrived late this year, the snow- and water conditions of Kevo Strick Nature Reserve are too bad for hiking, and the trail is closed there.
Urho Kekkonen National Park is Finland's second largest protected area,
2538-sq-km. The park is named after Urho Kekkonen, late President and Prime Minister of Finland. Leevi and guys have planned to climb to Sokosti Fell, which is the highest fell (718 m) in the area and they will swim in Luirojärvi Lake after that. They'll also visit Paradise Gorge (Paratiisikuru), which has been described as the most beautiful place in Urho Kekkonen National Park. I'm sure it will be unforgettable trip!
+20°C, mostly sunny, it rained two hours in the afternoon
