Uses of a dinner plate . . .

I've just finished knitting this beret, so now it has to be "blocked" , ie fitted over a plate, sprayed with water and left to dry overnight, so that it ends up a beret, as opposed to a beanie, shape.  

Torrential rain again today, the poor peonies are really suffering, and there is a strong smell of damp dog in the air!
