The Janie Seddon on Motueka’s foreshore - reflected in the water of the incoming tide.
This ship was built in 1901 in Scotland for the Government as a submarine mining vessel, and spent its early life in Wellington, NZ.
The ship was sold to Talley’s Fisheries as a fishing trawler in 1946. In 1948, the Janie Seddon came to a financial halt.
The vessel was initially moored at the Motueka Wharf, then moored in the Harbour Basin at Port Nelson. The Janie Seddon was later brought back to Motueka, stripped of all valuables and laid to rest at the Motueka beach frontage, where she remains an icon today.
Thank you for the comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s ‘spot of sunshine in the garden’
