Day 2-How Very Dare She!

While the rest of Britain languishes in record temperatures during the current heatwave, the inhabitants and tourists in rainy Stromness walked about this morning in temperatures recorded on the weather app on my phone as being 12 degrees, feeling like 9 -unbelievable to sooth moothers like His Lordship and me who are used to slightly higher summer averages. We dare to hope that sometime in the next three weeks it will be warm enough to remove our semmits.
To be fair, the temperature did rise to 13 degrees feeling like 11 as the rain stopped at lunch time.

We, however, were not daunted as we hailed the bus to Kirkwall to meet up with blipper Poppy for a blether before purloining her car in exchange for this cup of hot chocolate adorned with cream and marshmallows. In fairness she had offered it to us, ( the car, I mean ) which is so kind that we can never repay her or Mike's kindness.

We arrived back in Stromness with the car intact, found a precious parking space and are going out for our constitutional afternoon walk, taking the air and keeping an eye on harbour movements. I can report that it is almost sunny now.
