Life and death

As the thistle dies, it releases its bright feathery seeds in the hope of survival next year.

That sounds uncharacteristically philosophical, maybe subliminally linked to having had a lovely weekend with children and partners (sorry, too many big words).

Don't know what the significance of the ladybird is, though!
