Waiting for the talk to begin

I went up to a couple of talks at Blenheim Palace today -part of the literary festival. I liked the sense of waiting in this picture before everyone arrived for the next talk.

I went to a talk about ageing and the latest science on how to live a long and healthy life -all about reducing your insulin apparently so under eating (apparently alternate days is the best) low GI diet and weight bearing exercise to increase muscle! Good news is that at my age there is a window to reverse any damage. Who was it though who said there is no pleasure I would happily give up for another 2 years in a care home??

The second talk was about land grabbing and the impact on the local economy and farmers -interesting and a bit of guilt relief from buying green beans from Kenya!! Seriously a good reminder of our responsibilities as consumers.
