Death of a Huntsman
This is Olios Pictus Huntsman, according to my spider book. He (and he is a male, as he died with his underparts showing) has been dead for at least the last week as I first noticed him early last week, lying in the corner of a window frame (on the outside). We have lots of huntsmen spiders here in the Blue Mountains and they are pretty harmless, even though some grow to be quite large. Probably the largest one I've had would have been about the size of the palm of my hand, including outstretched legs. This little fellow is not so big, about a 2.5 centimetres with his curled up legs. Last week one of his legs was stretched out (see extra taken last Tuesday) but now they're all folded in.
