stille nacht
it was worth it. worth the walk and the unbelievably, i mean UNBELIEVABLY, cold weather. we went to mauer park, the east side of the berlin wall. what a blessing. the snow reflected the moonlight and made the earth shine. it was peaceful and profound.
amidst the quiet, children were sledding down the hill. childhood is beautiful. it reminded me of the "the giver." a truly excellent book. there is a really crucial scene that involves the memory of a child in a red coat sledding down a hill. the memory evokes emotions and feelings that have been suppressed and enables the character to be fully human again. i felt fully human tonight. with the fear and confusion of mankind reflected by the wall, and the simplicity of childhood, the weight of my own soul, and the frailty of my human body unable to protect itself against the cold. i was human.
speaking of cold weather, on my walk to german this morning the cold forced tears to form in my eyes, and then consequently froze them. rude.
