Shiny shoes

It was the annual Armed Forces Day in town.  Personally, I would like to see an annual Emergency Services Day given the work they do, putting themselves at risk and sometimes unsung in their efforts.  I noted the presence of a lot of bulkily clad police officers, their bullet proof protection hidden by their fluorescent jackets.  The situation is tense and I witnessed an eastern European who was either slightly drunk or mentally unstable making himself a bit of a nuisance of himself at a market stall.  Two thuggish looking locals immediately took it upon themselves to point fingers in his face and shout at him extremely aggressively.  An older woman went up to them and suggested a far better course of action would be to inform the policemen 50 metres away which eventually happened but the locals would have much preferred a fight.  Difficult times.
