Near The Gloup

A newly-downloaded app from OS says that my walk from Lighthouses Corner along to Mull Head and back via Skaill is 7.5 miles including a couple of diversions to East Denwick plantation and Sandside Bay. Lots of frantic waders calling as I walked the road- redshanks, curlews, oystercatchers, suggesting they all had eggs or young, though I only saw a fledged redshank. There seemed only 3 bonxie pairs on territories, a single arctic skua. Flowers in profusion with lots of northern marsh-orchid, bog-cotton, ragged robin, bird's-foot trefoil etc.
