Anna Mudeka

Anna is an incredibly talented Zimbabwean singer, dancer and musician who is based in Norwich and today she and her band were the final act at a Festival of Cultures organised by Norwich Mind.

I first met Anna several years ago when I worked for an organisation which helped women to start up in business.

The event was a real feast for the eyes, ears and taste buds with performers from around the world and stalls representing the many communities who have settled in Norwich: China, India, South Africa, Russia, Latvia, Bulgaria to name but a few - most of whom had delicious food to sample. I helped out for a while on the Norwich Pride stall and - of course - we had chocolate cake to offer. One of my friends described it like this: 'Why are we offering cake? Cake is the traditional dish of the LGBT community in Norwich'. I think she may have made that up herself .... she is very creative.
