ELEPHANT

GARLIC.
I planted lots of elephant garlic last fall and now it is nearly ready for harvest. It starts putting up these long (about one yard or a bit longer) shoots that will unfold a big flower. Unfortunately you have to cut these shoots if you want to get big bulbs. So I took a picture on the plant in the last evening light before cutting and putting it in a vase. Am curious to see the flower unfold.
The extreme heat makes for kind of unproductive days. Dog walk at 6 AM , watering of the garden early morning or after sunset. In between you can go shopping as the malls are nicely cool. Our swamp cooler is not really up to the job at hand.
After 8 PM the temperature becomes bearable again.
