Solstice selfie
Today we took a bus from Skagway, Alaska to Carcross , in the Yukon, Canada and the White Pass And Yukon narrow gage railroad back .. an all day adventure. hard to believe that all those crazy inexperienced people were so crazed with the prospect of Gold that they ( well, the third that made it) hiked up over snow passes ( this one, white pass, or nearby Chilcoot Pass) with a literal ton of supplies that Canada Insisted they have to survive for a year . At a certain point they got ( stole?) horses to carry the stuff and there is a canyon named dead horse canyon which the train went by where they all died from overwork . When they got to Bennett lake they had to build a boat for the next 500 miles on treacherous rivers . This RR was built to get the prospectors to Bennett Lake in 1898.
H's brother is a train geek ( blipper stationmaster) and this train ride was his dream. He must have a special arrangement with the weather gods as it was gorgeous!
But I need a "selfie" for my WBC challenge so am going to use this ...altho I hate selfies, I liked the light and those train Tracks... and what I now know is a "Herald".
Will try to add an extra of T talking to the train conductor and one of the train in those mountains with a huge reflection of a very large passenger :-) and a panorama of Bennett Lake and the Yukon river ( which ends up in the Klondike river and Dawson city and that elusive, short lived gold rush!)
All just right out of the phone...Appreciate the comments stars and hearts .. will try some catch up when back home.
