midwife crisis

I abandoned the trip to the 'Food Fair' in Skibbereen due to the soggy and windy outside conditions. Instead I fed the pile of teenagers that had apparently stayed over after the beach party last night. We had a long leisurely brunch, which was long enough for the sun to come out and for Hubs and I to get on our bikes to have a go at the Mt Gabriel route. I made it up the road section and felt sick at the top, so abandoned the idea of doing the really steep bit which is aviation owned and looks like the Alps snaking away ....it must be at least vertical in places!!!

We came across these fallen trees that have a glorious bright green garden growing on them while they lie in their fascinating folded pile.
The lanes were utterly quiet and we were entertained by long tailed tits chirping and hanging upside down in the trees getting seeds out of cones. No fat balls in hangers for these guys!
I'm booked in for control of the TV remote tonight - new season of Grimstone Manor AKA Downton Abbey. Sunday night nonsense to be gently anaethestised by. Hubs will be in the bath for the full 90 minutes, I might join him if it's utter s**te!
